#5--How would you define modesty? How can you help your children understand the importance of modesty?

Modesty is primarily a heart attitude--humility, contentment, etc. And that heart attitude is reflected in our actions, words, appearance, etc. Christ is of course the best example of modesty. We can also explain to our children that when we are modest Christ is exalted rather than ourselves.

I love that she shared this! I had the very narrow view of modesty (what we wear, etc.) and hadn't ever heard the more complete definition. And I think you totally hit the nail on the head in drawing the distinction between exalting self or exalting Christ. I think kids can discern that even at a younger age. Which helps since we've already begun modesty discussions with Mattaya. ;)
