#2--How can we encourage our kids when they are obedient? Do our words really make a difference? How?

Yes, our words make a difference. We can encourage them to thank God for his work in their lives when they obey. We must not deceive them into thinking that they can be good in and of themselves.

I agree. And directing their focus to God's work in their lives instead of congratulating them for the good decision they made will help to ingrain in them a habit of turning every good thing back in praise to God (instead of manufacturing pride and self-esteem).
