WHAT'CHA THINK?
On page 60 Carolyn reminds us of the reason for the command to love our children. What is that reason, and why is it so significant?
What effect does contemplating the brevity of life have upon our mothering? How can we continually remind one another and ourselves of this truth?

It gives me encouragement to have patience and the ability to put aside the house duties and just be with them. Memorization and medication of The Word and being active in my prayer life as a mother and actively reading The Word.
Yeah--what she said. ;) The reason is the salvation of their souls. Their eternal destination.
Contemplating the brevity of life gives me an extra measure of patience for my daughter. I know God doesn't owe me tomorrow with her, that every moment could be my last. I think we can remind one another by simply saying it. When we hear each other expressing frustration or discontent, we can just SAY it.
Reading this part made me a little sad, thinking about him growing so fast. But my ultimate "job" as his mother is to point him towards Christ. It definitely reminds me to have the patience and joy with him every minute...cuz those minutes are flying by.
And stop complaining about the little things that annoy me....I need to have joy in ALL things.
